Destination BC has joined the TravelAbility Ecosystem, an organization working within the travel industry to improve the travel experience for people with disabilities as well as providing resources for disabled travellers to find information to make their travel planning easier. Staff from Destination BC sit on the advisory board along with accessibility ambassadors from companies such as Princess Cruises, Marriott, Travel Oregon, Google, Expedia, Wheel the World and more.
Destination BC recently were invited to join their Destination A11y Club, a consortium of forward-thinking destinations committed to proactively expanding accessible tourism in their jurisdictions. The organization was invited to join based on accessible information onto HelloBC and Destination BC’s Learning Centre.
The club promotes the sharing of ideas and best practices via quarterly zoom meetings and the exchange of accessibility information amongst members. The Club was created to help partners accelerate the adoption of accessibility initiatives in their destination. Destinations like Visit Florida, Travel Oregon, Visit Mesa and others are also members. Destination is honoured to join and support accessible tourism in BC.
