At this time, applications for the Facilitated Sustainable Tourism and Climate Adaptation Planning for Tourism Businesses project, available through the BC Tourism Climate Resiliency Initiative (BCTCRI), are closed. Planning is underway to shape the future of the BCTCRI, with a continued focus on strengthening climate readiness and long-term sustainability across BC’s tourism industry. More information will be shared once it becomes available.
To stay informed, visit the BCTCRI webpage and watch for updates as BCTCRI partners continue to collaborate—supporting businesses and strengthening a thriving, resilient future for tourism in BC.
Project One of the BCTCRI–Facilitated Sustainable Tourism and Climate Adaptation Planning for Tourism Businesses–provides free, one-on-one, tailored support to tourism businesses looking to incorporate environmental sustainability or climate adaptation measures into their operations, strategy, and storytelling.
Businesses accepted into this program are connected with an experienced Program Advisor and other sustainability and climate adaptation experts from Destination BC’s subject matter expert network. The advisors and experts will work one-on-one with each business to help them develop a sustainability and climate adaptation roadmap and perform detailed assessments to identify the most impactful, customized measures for climate resiliency.
Tourism businesses who are planning on applying for future available intakes will need to indicate which tourism region their business operates within when they submit their application and they may wish to use our Planning Area Look Up Tool to confirm their tourism region in advance.
Businesses eligible to participate must:
The BCTCRI and its representative projects are developed and delivered in collaboration with partner organizations, including the six Regional Destination Management Organizations (RDMOs), Indigenous Tourism BC, and the BC Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport working together to meet the goals of this initiative.
