We are excited to share the 2022 Tourism Week Industry Toolkit! As you know – “Tourism Week” is an annual, national and provincial invitation for all tourism partners and stakeholders to come together to champion and promote our destinations, tourism businesses, and employees. This year Destination BC has partnered with the Tourism Industry Association of BC (TIABC) to develop a comprehensive toolkit that provides you with valuable resources and information that will assist you in developing new initiatives and implementing innovative ideas.

We encourage you to follow our social channels to repost your communication throughout the week of May 29 – June 4 and help us spread the message that #BCTourismCounts and #GreenMeansGo.

The 2022 Tourism Week Industry Toolkit contains comprehensive resources including:
•    BC Government Resources
•    Key Messaging
•    Tourism Week Fact Sheet
•    Suggested Social Media Posts
•    Infographics
•    Value of Tourism Videos
•    “We Are Tourism” Graphics
•    Ideas to Celebrate Tourism Week
•    Sustainable Tourism Pledge 2030
•    TIAC Resources
•    Tourism Week in BC

Note: The Toolkit will be updated as new tools, resources and information are made available. Please check Destination BC’s or TIABC’s website regularly for updates.

Download the Toolkit resources here!

BC’s Key Messaging:

Tourism remains vital to BC not only for its ability to generate huge economic activity, but also for providing social, cultural and environmental benefits, and showcasing our values as a province: resilience, reconciliation, peace, tolerance, and inclusivity. These values are needed on the world stage now more than ever. Download the Toolkit for messaging guidance and learn more about why #BCTourismCounts.

Tourism Week Fact Sheet:

A Tourism Week Fact Sheet has been created as a resource for you to have easy access to the facts and key points we want to share during Tourism Week in BC. Download the Toolkit to access the Fact Sheet. Share the information from the Fact Sheet through your communication channels.

Social Media Posts:

Operators and communities around BC are encouraged to share their Tourism Week celebrations on social media using the hashtags #BCTourismCounts and #GreenMeansGo. Download the Toolkit for a list of suggested social media posts for Tourism Week. Tag us, too! Don’t forget to tag TIABC and Destination BC in your communications.

Infographics:

The Toolkit includes the new ready to use infographics to share through your channels. We encourage you to create your own infographics that highlight the benefits tourism brings to your business, organization or community. Don’t forget to include the hashtags #BCTourismCounts and #GreenMeansGo.

Value of Tourism Videos:

TIABC created a series of Value of Tourism Videos that you can share through your channels. Videos range from about 0:35 seconds to 2:57 minutes, and feature different parts of the province. Access the Toolkit to learn more about the six video topics on the Value of Tourism.

Ideas to Celebrate Tourism:

The Toolkit includes a list of different ways to celebrate Tourism Week from sharing information about economic development efforts, scheduling media interviews, inviting your local mayor, MLA or MP to attend a special tourism related event in your community, or by sharing photos of tourism activities. Be sure to follow TIABC and Destination BC on their social channels to share, like and retweet social posts to help all BC Communities spread the word about Tourism Week. Access the Toolkit for more details on how you can celebrate!

Sustainable Tourism Pledge 2030:

The Sustainable Tourism Pledge 2030 is a commitment to improve the sustainability performance of your tourism business or destination between now and 2030. Developed in Canada by GreenStep, the pledge was launched in June 2021 together with the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) to help tourism businesses and destinations measure and improve their sustainability performance by simplifying the steps and creating a common framework and benchmark for the industry. Show that #GreenMeansGo by taking the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge!

TIAC Resources:

Tourism Week is a collaboration between TIAC and its partners across the country, including TIAC members, provincial and territorial industry associations, destination marketing organizations, and industry stakeholders. This year, TIAC is challenging destinations, landmarks, attractions, venues and hotels to light up in green from May 29-June 4 as part of their #GreenMeansGo campaign to raise awareness of the tourism industry’s economic, social, and cultural importance in Canada. Share the TIAC video, review their Industry Toolkit and use their Tourism Factsheet. Learn more here.

Tourism Week in BC:

The Tourism Week 2022 Industry Toolkit was prepared as a joint project between the Tourism Industry Association of BC and Destination BC. Follow Destination BC’s and TIABC’s social channels to repost materials throughout the week!
