Today, FIFA revealed the match schedule for the FIFA World Cup 26™ and Vancouver will be hosting a total of seven matches come 2026, including five group stage matches and two knockout round matches – round of 32 and round of 16, a huge win for Vancouver.
“I am thrilled that Vancouver scored the opportunity to host seven matches of the FIFA World Cup 26™,” said Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim. “Vancouver is a diverse and multicultural city that loves soccer and we’re excited to show our support for our national team and all the participating teams yet to qualify. These epic matches are a huge win for our city’s world-class tourism sector and local businesses, and will inspire the next generation of players and fans. Vancouver is ready to kick-off a lasting legacy of sport and community. We can’t wait to welcome the world!”
Vancouver’s hosting journey will begin on June 13, 2026 with a group stage game, and conclude with a round of 16 knockout match on July 7. Canada will host a total of 13 matches with Toronto hosting Canada’s opener. See Vancouver’s match dates at vancouverfwc26.ca/matches.
The tournament’s opening match in Mexico City will signal the start of a record-breaking FIFA World Cup in North America, with an exciting new expanded format that will see for the first time 48 teams battle it out across 104 matches, three host countries and 16 host cities for their chance to be crowned world champions. Vancouver was named a Host City in June 2022.
With rich diversity, we know every match will be a home game in Vancouver, but we are especially excited to see Canada Soccer’s Men’s National team open live from Toronto. Soccer fans will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch their country play at home at the highest level. In 2026, Vancouver will join an elite list of cities who have hosted both the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the FIFA World Cup, with Vancouver the site of the Final of the record setting FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™.
In 2026, we invite Vancouverites, British Columbians and the world to join us in the excitement of hosting a beautiful game in our beautiful city. We are 26, we are Vancouver, we are A Force of Nature™! Vancouver is proud to host the FIFA World Cup 26™.
