Details from the original release:

As excitement grows for FIFA World Cup 26™, a beat that has echoed through these lands since time immemorial has been infused into Vancouver’s official host city remix by one of Vancouver’s top DJs, bringing powerful tradition and cultural connection to the upcoming worldwide tournament.

Music has always been a vital part of the FIFA World Cup™, and for the 2026 edition, it will reach new heights. For the first time in FIFA history, each host city has partnered with a local producer to remix the tournament’s theme and infuse the distinct rhythm, vibe and cultural essence of their location. Each remix will feature on an anthology that showcases the diversity and creativity of the host regions, offering fans a unique auditory journey through the tournament’s 16 locations worldwide.

Vancouver’s audio, remixed by renowned Vancouver DJ and producer Grayson Repp is the only FIFA World Cup 26™ remix to feature local Indigenous artists, bringing vocals and music from the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations together to rouse fans in the collective spirit of football.

Repp’s production masterfully blends emotive Vancouver soundscapes with Indigenous vocals, beats, and local nature sounds, creating a distinctive audio that will connect fans to the lands on which these games will be played and remind of the Nations’ enduring presence and stewardship of them.

A deeper dive into the meaning behind the remix, featuring interviews with Repp and the artists will be released in a special Making of: FWC26 Vancouver’s Remix, on www.vancouverfwc26.ca/sonic-id. The video features: Producer and DJ Grayson Repp; xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) musicians Alec Dan and Jeffery Dan; Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) musicians Peter Yelton and Calvin Charlie-Dawson; and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) musicians William George-Thomas and Robert D. George.

The Vancouver Sonic ID remix will be featured throughout the build-up to FIFA World Cup 26™, online, at in-person events, in-stadium and at Vancouver’s FIFA Fan Festival™. Fans can stream and download the Vancouver Sonic ID remix and the full 16-audio collection on Spotify, Apple Music and other major platforms.
