Ski Travel Media Events Wrap Ahead of Ski Season
|
With ski season underway, Destination BC’s Travel Media team has wrapped a series of media events promoting the 2024-2025 season. In partnership with ski resorts across BC, we hosted events in Boulder, Colorado; Toronto, Ontario; and Seattle, Washington, meeting with local media and content creators to promote BC as a top destination for skiers, snowboarders, and snow lovers. Outlets in attendance included The Globe and Mail, Ski Canada Magazine, The Seattle Times, and more.

Avalanche Canada has announced that avalanche conditions across much of BC are currently rated Moderate to Considerable. Anyone venturing into the backcountry is urged to be prepared, exercise caution, and verify conditions using tools like Mountain Information (MIN) Reports, Mountain Weather Forecasts, and Avalanche Forecasts.

New “Spark” Program Launches for Boundary Country
|
Destination BC is proud to announce the launch of a new "Spark" Mentorships & Grants Program for Boundary Country, in collaboration with Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, Boundary Country Tourism, Boundary Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, Community Futures Boundary, Trails to the Boundary, and Tourism Innovation Lab.
The program seeks to inspire and support entrepreneurs, small businesses, non-profits, and community groups in Boundary Country to bring to life their creative ideas for new tourism opportunities, offerings, experiences, or partnerships through $3,000 in seed funding and mentorship opportunities.

September International Visitor Arrivals Report Available Now!
|
The September 2024 International Visitor Arrivals report is now available on our website. September was a strong month across our key overseas markets with year-to-date growth of 7.1% from Europe and 15.8% from Asia Pacific. September saw a decline in US overnight border crossings compared to the previous year (-3.3%); however, year-to-date overnight arrivals from the US are up by 6.5%.

Government of Canada Invests in BC Small Harbours
|
The federal government has announced $32 million in funding for small harbours along BC's coast to support infrastructure improvements, including nine harbours on Vancouver Island, four in the Lower Mainland, two on the Sunshine Coast, two in the Gulf Islands, and one on the North Coast. The announcement supports priority actions identified in destination development strategies introduced by Destination BC for North and South-Central Vancouver Island, Greater Victoria, and the Sunshine Coast.

Canada Summer Jobs 2025 Application Period for Employers Open Now!
|
The Canada Summer Jobs 2025 program is accepting applications now until December 19, 2024. This program is critical to many tourism businesses, enabling employers from not-for-profit organizations and the public sector, as well as private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, to receive funding to hire youth for summer jobs. In total, this funding will aim to support 70,000 summer jobs for youth across Canada.
